Törggelen Print E-mail

Torggelen is a South Tyrolean tradition, which is very valued in our Home. In our Torggelkeller you can find the right athmosphere to this special event, no matter if you are with a small or a large group.
Feast away in a companionable setting, with your new and old friends and enjoy typical "Törggele" dishes.
In our Torgelekeller we serve original South Tyrolean dishes like Dumplings, Sauerkraut, Schluzkrapfen, Barley Soup, Speck and Sausages with typical South Tyrolean bread, all along a good glass of red wine. Of course we accompany these evenings with traditional music.

Origin of the name:

The word "Törggelen" comes from "Torggl", the room in which the wine press was located and where the Törggelen was performed. The word also comes from the latin torquere (to turn), which indicates the act of pressing wine, and in this typical setting it indicates the traditional event of feasting the new crop, together with family and friends.
Nowadays wine is no longer pressed this way, but this tradition has remained, and is deeply radicated in the local folklore, and is typically accompanied with a banquet of food that nature offered during the season.
